Case summary

In 2001 the Commission extends the right to parental leave to ‘eligible casual employees’. These employees are described as those with ongoing associations with their employers and whose employment is not limited to short periods. Such casual employees must also have reasonably predictable working patterns and regular earnings with expectations of ongoing employment. Parental leave includes maternity leave, paternity leave and adoption leave.
